Nit

Nit is a very tight and passive poker player who avoids making tough decisions at the poker table. This player only plays premium hands preflop, rarely bluffs, tries not to play in big pots without having very strong hand and has a low VPIP (percentage of flops seen; literally - voluntarily put money in the pot).

Nits usually make bets only with nuts. In other cases they prefer to call the bets of their opponents.

Nits are usually successful at micro stakes as this playing style requires high concentration and cool hand - that’s what the beginners lack. This style is also perfect against weak opponents.

But too careful and preserved style is also not always useful as nits are easy to read. It is easy to steal blinds from players like this; they also can easily be outplayed by aggressive play.

It is important to remember you should not bluff against those players at the later rounds of betting as it is highly unlikely they will fold their cards. For instance, if nit calls your bet on the flop and turn, the probability of him having a strong hand increases and you won’t be able to take the pot away from them using bluff.
