The world’s first Live Cage is complete - check out the outcome!

The world’s first Live Cage at Americas Cardroom is complete - and we have a winner for the history books. Stanley Lee took down the first live version of Americas Cardroom’s time-based cash game to win $19,875.

“Our very first Live Cage was a huge success, and we’re just getting started,” stated Michael Harris, spokesperson for Americas Cardroom. "Congrats to everyone who came down to Costa Rica, made some money, and had a blast. We can’t wait for the next one in May.”

Lee finished Day 1 of the 2-day event in 10th place with just $4,410 of the $105,000 chips in play. But the break allowed Lee to spend the night refocusing and he ultimately came out on top to win the most amount of chips.

While Lee dominated the field, he wasn’t the only winner. Out of 21 entries, 14 players managed to cash. Rounding out the top-3 were Hugo Barboza ($13,810) and Diego Montezuma ($13,065).

The Live Cage is based on Americas Cardroom’s time-based online cash game in which players have until the clock runs out to build their chip stacks. There are no re-buys, so once a player busts out, it’s game over. At the end, players get paid dollar-for-dollar for their remaining stack.

The first Live Cage took place at the popular Taormina Hotel, which is geared towards adults who want to get a little crazy in San Jose, Costa Rica. The Live Cage will take place four more times in 2018 - at the end of May, July, September, and November.

But many of the participants didn’t shell out the full $5,000 buy-in for the 2-day event. Americas Cardroom runs the Beast and Sit & Crush Live Cage satellite every Sunday night at 6pm ET that guarantees three packages worth $8,000 apiece. Ten of the players in Costa Rica won their way in through the online satellite.

Winners of the Sunday satellites can choose to play in any remaining Live Cage this year. The satellite costs just $55 to get into, or players can win free seats by ranking on The Beast or Sit & Crush leaderboard.
