Phil Ivey granted court appeal against Crockfords in $12m lawsuit
It has been more than a year since the Phil Ivey’s case against London-based Crockfords casino was determined. Then the court found that Ivey couldn’t get his £7,800,000 ($12,000,000) on grounds of using forbidden techniques (so called edge sorting) during the game. But now it may become possible that the famous poker player will get his money.
Some days ago Phil Ivey received an official permission to appeal after the judge claimed this case “to be bringing up a serious legal issue”. Besides the judge gave an opinion that the poker player “stands to win the case”
Phil commented: “This is great news indeed. Now I’ve been given another try and I hope that this time we’ll win. I’m not a cheater - this is against my nature. For that reason I was deeply disappointed by the court’s last year decision”.
What matters is that Ivey got mixed up in another sensational legal argument - against Borgata casino. And in case he manages to win the appeal against London Crockfords casino, his chances to carry the case will increase significantly.
