MPN reworks sit and go structures, trials new formats

Last year the administration of Microgaming Poker Network (MPN) made several crucial alterations to the operation of its major poker rooms which made things for the company take off. For example, in combating for so called ecology, players were allowed to change their nicknames once in 30 days or after 1000 hands played. In general, innovations in all poker networks are mostly aimed at amateurs rather than at professional players.

This year MPN’s administration has decided to change game conditions for regular poker players for better by modifying the structure of Sit&Go tournaments along with their rake structure.

In the words of Alex Scott, MPN network CEO, these changes weren’t snap decisions - on the contrary they’ve been planned carefully for a long time and now are meant to redound to the advantage of Sit&Go users.

For a start, it’s planned to reduce the rake rate, which has been 10% up until recently. After the introduction of the changes, tournaments starting from €0.50 will require a 8% rake, and 6% for super-turbo tournaments. For high limits heads-up tournaments the rake rate will amount to 2%, but for low limits it will remain the same.

The structure of the following tournaments is also bound to be changed. The starting stacks will be increased by 500 chips up to 2000. Each level will from now on last for 6 instead of 5 minutes. Moreover, players will be given 18 seconds to act each hand and the time-bank will have additional seconds up to 30. Super turbo tournaments will also have levels prolonged up to 3 min and time-bank increased up to 15 sec.

However, Double or Nothing tournaments fans should get ready for the bad news: the administration of the poker room is inclined to believe these tournaments are extremely attractive for fraudsters which affect badly the reputation of poker rooms. To dent their popularity of tournaments below €0,50, the rake back was decided to be increased up to 20%. Those tournaments under €100 will have a 15% rake back, and for €200 games - 10%.

All changes listed above will come into force on the last day of winter - February 29th.
