Molly's Game is one step from becoming another poker cinema sensation
Is it possible that another Hollywood poker real story will become the first post boom poker movie living no bitter taste in the end?
Of course, “Rounders” cannot lay claim to #1 movie in history but hardly anyone denies it’s a worthy film. Fine script, good directing, and impressive acting… Besides, it took the varnish off poker in a positive way (for that times). In connection with this and with the fact that it had been delivered shortly before the poker boom began, all poker fans are longing for another poker sensation in cinematograph.
If you follow my posts, you may notice that I don’t think highly of the rest of poker movies (in fact they’re awful). “Royal Casino” seems to be fine, but the episodes with poker were absolutely delirious. Many non-fiction movies about poker were shown on screen but the rest of fiction films were nothing short of failure.
“Molly’s game” seems to be capable to break out of the funk. This is a story about very expensive poker games that involved such famous people as Ben Affleck, Tobey Maguire, Leonardo DiCaprio, A-Rod and Matt Daimon. Eventually these games were arrested by the FBI.
