John Nash was killed in a car crash

The famous mathematician John Nash and his wife Alicia were involved in an accident on the road from the airport in New Jersey. The scientist, who described the famous "Nash equilibrium" was returning from Norway, where he received the Abel Prize. The taxi, which drove the couple, crashed into the fence, with the result that both spouses have died.

Nash equilibrium is oftentimes used by poker players during the push-fold stages of the game with a short stack.

In 2001, filmmaker Ron Howard directed the movie "A Beautiful Mind," the biography of John Nash. The main role was played by Russell Crowe. The film received the prestigious "Oscar" award in four categories.

John lived a wonderful life, and had given a lot of useful things to society. For most of his life, he struggled with schizophrenia, that did not prevent him to receive the Nobel Prize for his "Analysis of equilibria in the theory of noncooperative games".

At the time of the tragedy John was 86 years old and his wife 82.
