John McKeehen - WSOP 2015 Main Event winner

Recently WSOP 2015 Main Event has been reported to be over after the traditional standstill that had been taking place since the middle July. At the beginning of November top-9 players came together to reveal the champion. The American player, John McKeehen, who reached the table as chip leader, was the one to become the winner.

There were only six-of-nine players left in play after the first out of three championship days: Patrick Chan, Federico Butteron and Pierre Neuville couldn’t make it for the final stage. However, we’d like to notice that the consolation prize that went to Chan amounted to a little more than $1 000 000 so his knockout can hardly be described as a bitter one.

The second day of the championship was marked with John McKeehen who accumulated half of all chips under one stack and carried greater threat than any other player. Another three players left the tournament at that day: Thomas Cannuli lost pitifully with pocket aces followed by Zvi Stern and Max Steinberg.

The last day of WSOP Main Event 2015 arrived for three players only: McKeehen - the chip leader, - Joshua Beckley and Neil Blumenfield. The latter could last it out for about a,5 hours before being knocked out by the future winner. Neil brought himself to going all-in with pocket ducks but faced an unsuspected call by John McKeehen who had two dames in the end. As a result Blumenfield left the tournament with a bit more than $ 3,3 million in his pocket.

The heads-up session lasted for about 30 minutes. Meanwhile the finalists managed to play about 12 hands only, with the last one to be critical. Joshua Beckley decided to go all-in with two of fours and McKeehen had nothing to do but answer with a call (having A10). John became the WSOP Main Event 2015 champion having gathered two of tens after the flop. He also earned $7,683,346.

Final table results:

  • Joe McKeehen – $7,683,346
