bwin.party reported to sell WPT series for $35 million

Approximately a year ago rumors of bwin.party company selling off its own assets to potential buyers like Amaya, DVC Holdings and 888 Poker started circulating.

The first decade of June 2015 was marked with bwin.party shutting down the WPT Poker poker room and consequently another news item popped up: World Poker Tour (WTP) brand was sold out to the Chinese company - Ourgame International Holdings Ltd for $35 million.

Ourgame international holdings Ltd is company listed in Hong Kong and specializing in social media based services (card and table games powered by different platforms) with a total number of users of approximately 500 million. Last year Ourgame company had somewhat experience in doing business with WTP within WTP National China which took place in MGM Grand Sanya Resort.

As the result of the ownership change and the rise of the number of users the major poker rooms may take a closer look at the WTP series.

It’s to be recalled that WTP series was founded in 2002 and ever since has gained sufficient popularity. In 2009 the brand was taken over by Party Gaming for $12,3 million. From then on the series has developed from 15 up to 70 events which include WPT Main Tour, WPT Alpha8, WPT National, and WPT DeepStacks.et

Bwin.party authorities claim that the deal in no case will affect the process of negotiations with potential buyers over other company’s businesses.
