Romania’s “12kop_yerdna” Claims Mega Deep Title

This week’s $215 buy-in Mega Deep had a $20,000 guarantee, but with 125 players rebuying 32 times, a $31,400 prize pool was on tap. The top 16 earned a piece of it including “HammertimeAA” (16th - $628), “tikkapekka” (12th - $785), Steven “Kale333” van Zadelhoff (8th - $942), and “HomoDeus” (3rd - $4,082).

Fun fact, Steven “Kale333” van Zadelhoff recently took over the top spot on the PocketFive’s WorldWide Online Poker Rankings.

After 8 hours and 50 minutes, Romania’s “12kop_yerdna” bested Canada’s “jt7bl2f” to take home $7,693.

A GREAT Score of Lithuania’s “Eimukazz”

The $88 buy-in GREAT 8, which is played 8-handed and starts players with 8,888 in chips, had a $10,000 guarantee, but it easily surpassed that by drawing 160 players who rebought 73 times. That created a $18,640 prize pool that was paid out to the top 24 players including Anton “YSoSerious7” Yakuba (20th - $233), “Athlete1978” (15th - $326.20), “Groggggggggy” (6th - $838.80), and “proplatish” (3rd - $2,236.80).

XL Inferno Champ Survives Monsoon

The $55 buy-in, $5,000 guaranteed Monsoon attracted 108 players who rebought 27 times. That created a $6,750 prize pool that was paid out to the top 15 players. Some of the players to cash but fall short of the final table were “tatjana23” (14th - $141.75), “bluffmagic” (11th - $162), and “Shansovnet” (10th - $162).

At the final table, “EasterEggs” (8th - $236.25), Antoan “Atrepok” Katsarov (5th - $438.75), and “Happynose” (4th - $624.37) all went deep but ultimately failed to win. That honor went to Ukraine’s “Fukuruku,” who emerged victorious for $1,687.50 after just under six hours of play. Consequently, Belarus’ “plotka_voxa” had to settle for runner-up and a $1,147.50 payday.

Back in May, “Fukuruku” topped a field of 173 players to win the XL Inferno Event #155: $15,000 Tornado for $4,287.

GangstaGo” Earns Second Runner-Up Finish of the Day

The $109 buy-in, $3,000 guarantee Crocodile was a small affair with 35 players and 18 rebuys, but that still generated a $5,300 prize pool. Five players would get paid, and as fate would have it, 60 percent of them were Ukrainian players, two of which had found success earlier in the day.

The aforementioned “Fukuruku,” who won the Monsoon, finished in fourth place for $530, while the other two Ukrainians made it to heads-up play It was there that they struck a near-equal deal, and then “GangstaGo” wound up with his second runner-up finish of the day – he previously took second in the GREAT 8.

That left “GSwarrior30,” who back in May won the XL Inferno Event #65: $15,000 Tornado for $5,246, to claim the title an $1,794.27 first-place prize.
