Shark
Shark - a poker slang term, that is used to describe a strong poker player.
The origin of this term has two theories:
- The term could come to the poker world from business ('business shark');
- The term could occur because bad poker players are oftentimes called fish, but sharks in the wild eat fish. If transferred into poker planescape, sharks are large and strong players, who are taking money from their weaker opponents.
The opposite of the 'shark' is a 'fish'.
