Hit and Run
Hit-n-Run (Hit&Run, Hit and Run) - is the term in poker that means the situation in the game when one of the players sits at the table and quits immediately after winning a big pot. This term is applicable to the cash games only.
To make hit-n-run (to hit-n-run) - means to join a game at a poker table, win a huge pot in just few hands (hit) and quit with the cash (run).
Despite this sort of behavior isn’t prohibited by rules of online poker rooms, it is considered bad manners among professional poker players.
Hit-n-run tactics is used by those players who keen on playing short stack strategy (SSS): they sit at the table having 20BB (big blinds) and leave as soon as the size of the stack becomes over 40BB.
Example:
The player sits at the NL200 table (with $1/$2 blinds) with the stack of $100. He calls all-in of the opponent and doubles his stack, then he sits out and leaves the table. This player committed hit-n-run as he made a hit and took off.
