Burn Card

Burn card is a term used in live poker with common card types of poker games (Texas Hold’em and Omaha). Burn card is a card the dealer puts face down before opening common cards (of flop, turn and river). This is made to exclude the possibility of one player marking the top card of the deck.

The word 'burnt' in English means destroyed by fire which metaphorically means the card is eliminated from the game.
